In the past 3 years, if I’ve learned anything about Sparta, KY, it’s that the weather will be hot and humid, and it WILL rain. I arrived on Wednesday and things went great. It was hot and humid but no wet stuff. Thursday brought the rain, but we thankfully were able to race late that night. Unfortunately the rain rearranged the schedule and moved Xfinity practice to 8:30 am Friday. This meant most of the photographers and media types would only get about 3 hours of sleep before showing up on Friday morning for a VERY full day of action. I won’t complain about the monsoon that hit just before the Xfinity race. With the postponement of Friday night’s race, it allowed many of us to get a good nights rest before the double-header on Saturday.

On Saturday though, the weather was as close to perfection as I’ve ever experienced at Kentucky Speedway. I worked on the inside for the Xfinity race and on the outside for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race. Thanks NKP!
