Watkins Glen is one of my top 3 favorite tracks. Actually, it might be my favorite. So far, this is the only town on the NASCAR schedule that I have considered taking a family vacation. Hills, lakes, waterfalls, farms, vineyards, old buildings, great restaurants, and it’s quiet (well, I would imagine that it’s quiet when it’s not a race weekend.)

I felt like this was my strongest race last year (and my first with NKP), so I’ve been looking forward to this date all year.

Although I was excited to be in upstate New York, I was pretty distracted all weekend. There were a few kinks thrown in our travel plans. My luggage was effected by the “Great BNA Sewage Leak of 2017”, and I wouldn’t see it until Saturday night. Knowing that my weekend wardrobe and some equipment could possibly be sloshing around in sewage kept me psyched out.

But at the end of the day, it’s just luggage. I hate that I let such a petty thing get to me as much as it did. It’s silly to worry about. I went to Walmart and spent a fairly low amount of money on clothes and supplies for the weekend. All was well. The bag came in perfectly fine on Saturday.

Sunday’s race went great. The weather was perfect, the sun was out, and the race was clean for the most part. I’ll look forward to this weekend once again next year!

Thanks once again to NKP. Here’s to another year of fun, photos, and Eggplant Parmesan death scares.
